I read before Christmas - that walking in bare feet can ease sciatica - and I was having a terrible time with it - (sciatica)

So - it is supposed to be summertime here - so I started doing that - and in spite of my glorious spider bite and my thread bare carpet - I have found that my sciatica eased off since then

I guess no one feels like that in winter - but at home in the summer - bare feet has worked for me

If anyone has any news on this themselves - I would love to know

merlin you are 100percent correct in that walking in bare feet reduces pain. i found that out by accident when walking bare foot on grass. dr forest tenant claims that electrical energy in the body is released when walking barefoot....wish it was summer here merlin....pal pete

I'm a "barefoot" gal, and always have been.  Even in cold weather, unless I have to go outside, I never wear shoes in the house.  Only warm wooly socks.  I'm sorry to say that despite being barefoot most of my life, I've had an awful lot of back surgeries.  LOL  Sure hasn't helped me, but hey-----I say whatever works------do it!!!

My journey with chronic pain began over 30 years ago, while as a young nurse working spinal rehab, I injured my back lifting a patient. I am now fused from L2-S1. I have multiple thoracic and cervical issues. I'm a retired RN/PA and I know and understand the frustrations on both ends of the treatment spectrum of dealing with CP. It's been my goal since 2008, when we started this site, to reach out and help as many people in pain as possible. We will continue the fight as long as we can. Please, if you can help us continue to help you and others, donate. Thank you.

Bare foot and pregnant. Stevie, are you implying you are pregnant?
I walk around the house in combat boots, nothing else. Other than burning my butt on the stove I have no back issues. And that's the truth.
Five knee surgeries from 1970 to 2000. Knee replacement in 2000.Spinal stenosis surgery in May of 2002. Diagnosed with Pseudogout in 2005, effecting hands, knees, and shoulders. Emergency surgery in March of 2006 for spinal infection of L 2 and L 3. During surgery, discovered I had Cauda Equina Syndrome. Spine became unstable after surgery and had 360 fusion with 10 pedicle screws, plates and rods in April of 2007. Retired early as a high school principal. Recently, have had trigger finger surgery on both hands as well as surgery for severe bi-lateral Carpal Tunnel disease.

OMG-----too funny.  I was writing the post thinking barefoot and pregnant and laughing to myself.  Leave it to you, combat boot man Dick, to make me just miss ruining my keyboard while attempting NOT to spit the contents of my drink all over my keyboard.Crash

Wearing heavy shoes helps to build up your quads Dick

I have hiking boots I got at Aussie Disposals - had them for years and I walk in them when I take a walk in winter

For inside I mush get some woolly socks - I saw them when I was shopping yesterday - all bright stripes - colours that don't always go together - wonderful

I'm gunna get some of these if I feel okay tomorrow - cash has been tight - and enough so I can wear odd socks around the house

This is me being eccentric - I love being eccentric
