Hi Everyone,

Many of us use patches like Fentanyl and Butrans for pain relief. Most of us who use these patches suffer from at least some level of local rash and irritation once the patch has been removed.

I take an antihistamine every day. When I remove a patch I always immediately apply hydrocortisone cream and I also use Clarins Renew-Plus Body Serum. After the first 24 hours or so I just use the Clarins. Now I can reuse patch sites far more quickly not to mention the shorter duration of the unsightly red patch. It's expensive, over £30 in the UK but you only need to use a tiny amount so the bottle lasts for ages.

I am not an employee or anything to do with Clarins. This is genuine unbiased advice following over a year's use of Butrans and Transtec patches.

I used to use  Butran for months. All of a sudden it was actually burning my skin. It looked like a sun blister.

Hi Rose,

I didn't have much of a problem to start with, but now I take a daily antihistamine and apply cortisone cream and the Clarins cream when I remove the patch. Then it is tolerable except in very hot weather when it itches.
