    Posted: Jan/25/2015 at 11:42am
Hello, everyone. I am doing a study, and I have received permission from an admin to post an invitation to participate in it.

My name is Leah. I am an undergraduate honors student at SDSU pursuing a degree in English education. I am also a chronic pain patient (I have Chronic Migraine Syndrome), and I am very interested in how others cope with their pain. As an honors student, I have to design and conduct an independent honors capstone project that relates to my major. I have decided to study the potential usefulness of reading and writing literature as a coping mechanism for chronic pain.

As part of this project, I have set up my own literary blog, which will accept writing submissions from those with chronic pain. I will publish these submissions on my blog, and   I am hoping to create an online community where chronic pain patients can share their writing and read each other's writing. (For those interested in submitting original writing, please see the submission guidelines posted below.)

I am also hoping that of you will complete a survey I have made about if how you cope with chronic pain.

Thank you very much! I appreciate any help you can give.

Best wishes, Leah.  I hope you will find the help and support through out the chronic pain community in order to help so many who suffer.  Stevie

Please donate to help Chronicpainsite.com continue to help others.

My journey with chronic pain began over 30 years ago, while as a young nurse working spinal rehab, I injured my back lifting a patient. I am now fused from L2-S1. I have multiple thoracic and cervical issues. I'm a retired RN/PA and I know and understand the frustrations on both ends of the treatment spectrum of dealing with CP. It's been my goal since 2008, when we started this site, to reach out and help as many people in pain as possible. We will continue the fight as long as we can. Please, if you can help us continue to help you and others, donate. Thank you.

Good morning Leah,
Like everything else in life "1 size does not fit all". I answered your survey and not all questions were pertinent, but glad to help. Good luck

Thank you very much, Eliz. That's ok if not everything pertains, I just need some data to work with. Thanks!

Just a clarification-you don't necessarily have to be a writer to answer the survey, the information about your other coping strategies and why you don't write is helpful as well. Thanks!
