Hi all,

I have read the rules and other posts and got permission from admin so I hope I am posting this in the right place. Below is some information for my doctoral thesis study looking at partners' experiences of chronic pain. I'm initially looking for UK residents but with scope to expand internationally. Please feel free to share this information on other forums, facebook, twitter, support groups etc.

Thank you for your time

My name is Laura Smith and I am a trainee clinical psychologist. I’m conducting some research as part of my doctorate in clinical psychology and was hoping you could help. I’m looking at the experiences of partners’ of somebody with chronic pain.

So why do the research? We know that partners play a hugely influential role in supporting somebody with chronic pain and that partners can influence how well somebody with chronic pain copes. It would be beneficial therefore to understand partners’ experiences of chronic pain so that professionals can better understand the impact of chronic pain upon partners.
I’m interested – what next?

If you are a partner of somebody with chronic pain and you live together, you can contact me for more information. If you’re happy to take part then contact me on the details below and we can arrange to meet up for an interview. It will last approximately an hour although we can take as little or as much time as you like.    If you are not a partner of somebody who experiences chronic pain but you think you know someone who would be interested in taking part, then please do pass this information on to them and they can contact me on the details provided.

Good luck with your research study, Laura!!

Please donate to help continue to help others.

My journey with chronic pain began over 30 years ago, while as a young nurse working spinal rehab, I injured my back lifting a patient. I am now fused from L2-S1. I have multiple thoracic and cervical issues. I'm a retired RN/PA and I know and understand the frustrations on both ends of the treatment spectrum of dealing with CP. It's been my goal since 2008, when we started this site, to reach out and help as many people in pain as possible. We will continue the fight as long as we can. Please, if you can help us continue to help you and others, donate. Thank you.
