Non manipulative technique mean,t to simply assist the body in correcting spinal alignments..Applying assistive thrusts into the body so that the muscle that is trying to re-align your spine get some additional assistance.

Secondly there has been another uk breakthrough and i was really impressed with it but only a handful of candidates be given it due to its cost of £30,000 an operation. Its called a neuro stimulator. A small device used in a computer or mobile phone and can tell if you are sitting or standing up.
A friend of mine shall be keeping posted updates on how his spinology sessions are doing as its all pretty new.

Hi Liz, I saw the BBC news report about the Neurostimulator, and from what I could gather it's just like a standard SCS but with motion sensor technology added to it. So instead of chosing the setting you need for standing/walking/sleeping etc. yourself, it automatically does it for you. The device itself certainly looks like the other Medtronic stimulators so I'm presuming that's what it's all about. I had a few text message from my friends telling me to put that news report on the other night! Back to spinology - it sounds very interesting and definitely worth trying anything gentle and non-invasive

Decompression/stabilisation with Dynesys Apr'04, revision with PLIF Oct'08, several ESI's.
Still suffering with bilateral nerve pains in legs, plus in neck, arms & hands since Jul'09. SCS installed Apr'10. No significant improvement yet

I did find some videos that show how spinology is done. (I believe that it is available in Ireland, and Australia? ) And being taught there?
From what I could tell by the video, the pressure applied to the muscles around the vertebrae is fairly forceful (as you described "thrusts").
However, the reasoning behind the practice seems sound, and although I wouldn't want that type of pressure on my lumbar spine (hardware from fusions), it would be something that if available here in the States I may consider for the pain in my thoracic spine.
So, thank you for bringing this to our attention, and thank you Spicey for explaining more about the Neurostimulator.

glad to have been reading through spicey,s updates and thats what brought it back to me..Its always worth a try out if affordable..Unfortunately these are private practise and with spinology the price gradually goes down depending on how many sessions you have..My friend has had three sessions so far and said at this early stage he gets few hrs relief then stiffens up again..He hopes after a few weeks to see more results on the relief side of the treatment..Hasn,t mentioned a price per session yet.
Im hoping he shall join us on here so you are getting first hand updates..Its amazing stevie that we attend pain management and these treatments are never mentione by pm doctors.
If the uk government didn,t make so many hospital cut backs the nhs could well probably set up a programme..Instead they choose to take away the very doctors and nurses we need..Its their VALUABLE JOBS AFFECTED TOO.
Sorry for me prattling on but when we all sit in pain 24/7 it gets me that the government are the powers at be complaining at the amount of people claiming allowances. Wait till something like this affects one of them and i wouldn,t wish this pain on my worse enemy.

I am new to this peeps - so I am going to have to read the links - but not atm - I don't know how long I will have before my computer starts i's game again
But any improvement in spinal pain management is interesting and adds more than some hope to us spineys
Great to meet you Liz - I am the member in Australia interested in having something like this trialed here - although my specialist is not going to let me get into any trials - you know - whatever it is is working well enought atm - let's not interfer with anything
It is good news - as soon as I get this glitch in my computer fixed I will be looking up those links

Severe inoperable lumbar spine pain from severe L4/L5 disc impingment with lesser impingment at L3/L4 and L5/S1. Increasing spinal cord canal stenosis, restricted lumbar lordosis,facet joint damage and osteo-arthritis. Probable cause - delayed sporting injuries. Migraine. Severe left rotator cuff damage after MVA - two surgeries - 1986, 1994 - second procedure successful but I still have a tricky shoulder with the loss of the acromium process - intra-articular steroid injections usually work well if done properly
Why is that sceptics work so hard to disprove someone else's reality?

pleased to meet you too..It seems ironic because before my L5/s1 disc caused permanent nerve damage 4 yrs ago i wouldn,t have thought twice about any breakthroughs regarding spines.(.Oh MY !!! how much did we take for granted when fully functional..) One disc and feel like my lower half been hit with steam roller..cold and damp here again so yes pain levels are through the roof again..
Maybe i need to invest in a sunbed as its the only time i can say my meds really work is when the sun is out in all her glory. On days like today nothing takes the edge off..
I hope you get your computer fixed to get into the links lin..I also hope you are a bit more pain free than have been lately as i was reading a few of your posts.

Before you get a sunbed please check this out - Australians are particularly prone to melanoma - and my daughter had her first surgery for melanoma when she was only 19 and nearly 20 years later - she's 38 now - we are waiting for the results of her last biopsy.
I have had a lot of interesting bits and pieces cut out - only one possible melanoma
I have written some comments about Melanoma on this site some where - we are warned not to use sun beds - as much as we might like them - we have enough UV rays getting though our clothes and sunscreen and don't want to add extra - it's not worth it
It might be different in Ianark - I don't know where that is - but in a country that doesn't have hot sun damaging our skin - then that could be a good thing - we all need Vitamin D from the sunshine

lanark is a market town 25 miles south between glasgow and edinburgh in scotland uk..I know thats not much help when on the other side of the globe..  Its famous for its heritage site called (new lanark) where we have the origonal cotton mills from centuries ago and still working..Google it once your sorted out..
Thanks for info lin on the sunbeds and think i shall stay with the sun when we get it..I am aware of the dangers on using them but hits home more when someone like your daughter has had to go through the worry of melanoma.s..My sister wass a regular user of them but stopped after a worrying mole..It turned out fine she was lucky but vowed not to use them again..My ex-husband was not as forunate and did develop skin cancer from a mole on his back which was a painful sight when weeping and cracked..He recovered after months of treatment and still fine as far as im aware. Im glad you have put post on here regards the subject to make people aware to keep safe in the sun.
